NORBERG PIANOS / CONSULTATION INFORMATION
Terms & consultation scope
An inquiry does not create a service agreement, order work, take payment or reserve a consultation.
Business identity and availability
This website is operated by Norberg Pianos Inc., an Alberta corporation, trading as Norberg Pianos. Slava Sles handles Canadian appraisal inquiries and free reviews. Service availability, fees and the named appraiser’s suitability for the intended use are confirmed before accepting an assignment. Email norbergpianos@gmail.com.
Online appraisal scope
Online appraisal fees are $295 CAD for a vertical piano and $495 CAD for a grand piano, plus applicable taxes. Each covers one piano, review of the information supplied, relevant market research and a written report for an agreed purpose and valuation date. The report describes the instrument, evidence, reasoning, value conclusion, assumptions and remote limitations. Suitability, exact scope and delivery timing are agreed before work begins. An inquiry alone does not order or begin the service.
Basis of value and market evidence
The assignment determines the applicable definition of value. Fair market value and replacement value are distinct; they are not interchangeable. Relevant nationwide comparisons may be considered, with differences in condition, history, location, timing and transaction terms addressed. Asking prices are identified separately from completed sales. A high asking price elsewhere does not automatically establish the subject piano’s value. Conclusions are evidence-based and are not contingent on a desired amount.
Formal and institutional purposes
You may ask about a report for insurance, estate, probate, tax, charitable-donation or another formal purpose. This is an inquiry only. A formal engagement requires separate confirmation of the named appraiser’s qualifications, scope, inspection needs, effective valuation date and the receiving institution’s requirements. The standard online report is not automatically suitable for these purposes. This site does not promise that an insurer, government body, court, accountant or other recipient will accept an opinion.
Donation inquiries
An inquiry does not establish charitable acceptance, the eligible gift amount, entitlement to an official receipt or any tax credit. Confirm the qualified donee’s requirements, valuation evidence, moving arrangements and applicable tax rules before donating. Your tax adviser determines what you may claim. A report’s scope and appraiser suitability must be confirmed before a formal assignment is accepted. See CRA Gifts and Income Tax.
Remote limitations
Photographs and descriptions cannot establish the full mechanical, structural or musical condition of a piano. Hidden defects, tuning stability and playability may require physical inspection by an appropriate professional. Estimates are limited by the evidence and market conditions at the time, and do not guarantee price, sale, authenticity, condition or future performance. Do not use an inquiry as a substitute for due diligence before a transaction.
Fees, scheduling and agreement
Before work begins, Norberg Pianos and the client must agree in writing on suitability, scope, deliverables, fees, currency, applicable taxes, timing, payment and cancellation/rescheduling terms. A preferred time or an email request is not a confirmed booking. No payment is processed by this site.
Online: vertical $295 CAD, grand $495 CAD. In person: vertical $495 CAD, grand $695 CAD. Prices are in Canadian dollars, per piano, plus applicable taxes. Your total, scope and timing are confirmed in writing before you agree to proceed. Fees are independent of the appraised value. Formal reports and digital or unusual instruments require a separately confirmed quote.
In-person services
An in-person appraisal includes an on-site inspection within the service area below, review of the evidence, relevant market research and a written appraisal for the agreed purpose and valuation date. The local visit is included in the advertised in-person fee. Your address, appointment, access and inspection scope must be confirmed before booking. Visits are scheduled around our regular travel; an inquiry does not reserve a visit. Tuning and repairs are separate. A remote appraisal does not include an on-site visit. If a remote assignment later needs an inspection, any change of scope and fee must be agreed before additional work begins.
In-person visits serve Calgary, Medicine Hat, Empress and communities along our regular routes between them, including nearby locations approximately 20 minutes’ drive beyond those areas or off those routes. Visits are scheduled around our regular travel. We confirm your address and appointment availability before booking. Edmonton is outside our on-site service area. Remote appraisals elsewhere in Canada are subject to suitability.
Information and safe access
Provide information you are entitled to share and identify uncertainties. Use “Unknown” where needed. Do not remove panels, lift heavy components or enter an unsafe area to identify a piano or take photographs. Avoid sharing unnecessary personal information.
Free review and delivery
The free review has no fee or obligation to purchase an appraisal. Automatic preliminary guidance uses only the supplied answers and is not a valuation, tax recommendation or personal review. Norberg Pianos normally replies within 24 hours after receiving a request; this is an estimate, not a guaranteed deadline. Google delivers submitted details and photos by email. Contact us directly if submission fails or you do not receive a reply.
